AI video generation

AI Video Generator

HelloGen’s AI video generator turns a text prompt or a single photo into a 5- or 10-second clip at up to 4K, with optional generated sound. Eleven models from Veo, Kling, Seedance and HappyHorse sit behind one composer, so you choose the look and the budget instead of the plumbing.

Generation modes

Five ways to start a clip

The composer only shows the modes the selected model actually supports.

Text to video

Describe the shot in a sentence — subject, action, camera move, lighting — and the model renders it from scratch. No image needed.

Image to video

Upload one photo and it becomes the opening frame. The model animates what is already there instead of inventing a new scene.

First and last frame

Give a start image and an end image, and the model generates the motion between them. The most direct way to control where a clip lands.

Reference guided

Attach up to nine reference images — and on the Seedance 2 family, a reference video or audio track — to lock a character, a style or a movement.

Motion transfer

Kling Motion Control takes a character image plus a driving video and copies that video’s movement onto your character.

The credits column is each model’s cheapest combination; the composer prices the exact resolution, length and sound you pick before you submit. Any single clip costs at least 20 credits.

How it works

From prompt to clip in three steps

01

Pick a model

Start with Veo 3.1 Lite for the cheapest render, or Seedance 2 and Kling 3.0 when the shot needs richer motion. The price updates as you choose.

02

Describe or upload

Write the shot, or drop in a photo to animate. Add a last frame, reference images or a driving video if the model supports it.

03

Render and save

Set resolution, length and sound, then submit. Finished clips land in My Works automatically, and failures cost nothing.

Credits

What a clip actually costs

Video is billed in credits, priced per second of output and by resolution, with a 20-credit floor on any single clip. Basic includes 1,200 credits a month and Pro includes 3,600; credit packs start at $4.90 for 500 credits and never expire. Image generation stays free and never touches your balance.

FAQ

AI video questions

Is the AI video generator free?

Image generation on HelloGen is free forever, but video is not: every clip spends credits, because each render is paid compute at the model vendor. Credits come with a Basic or Pro plan, or as a one-off pack from $4.90. A generation that fails is never charged.

How long can a generated video be?

Seedance, Kling and HappyHorse render 5- or 10-second clips, and you choose the length before submitting. Veo 3.1 and Kling Motion Control are billed per clip at a fixed length instead. For anything longer, generate several clips and join them in a video editor.

Can I turn a photo into a video?

Yes. Upload a photo in the composer and it becomes the first frame, so the model animates that image rather than inventing a new scene. You can also supply a last frame to control where the clip ends, or add reference images to keep a character consistent.

Do the generated videos have sound?

Seedance 1.5 Pro and Kling 3.0 expose a generated-sound toggle in the composer; turning it on costs more credits than a silent render. The other models return silent clips, which you can score in any video editor.

Can I use the videos commercially?

Yes — generated videos are yours to use, including commercially, to the extent the law allows. You are responsible for making sure your prompt and any photo you upload do not infringe someone else’s rights; our Acceptable Use Policy covers this in detail.

What happens if a generation fails?

Nothing is charged. Credits are only spent on a clip that actually renders, so a failed or blocked generation leaves your balance untouched.
