Wan 3.0Alibaba’s 30-second AI video model, online
Wan 3.0 (Wan3.0 in Alibaba’s own docs) is the newest model in Alibaba’s Wan AI video family, opened for public testing on 6 August 2026 and released on 24 August. One model handles text-to-video, first-frame and first-and-last-frame animation, and reference-guided generation: clips of up to 30 seconds, up to 1080p, with sound generated together with the picture. On HelloGen, Wan 3.0, the faster Wan 3.0 Prime and Wan 2.7 sit in the same video generator and run on credits — from a plan or a credit pack — with the price shown before you generate.
From 70 credits per clip — the exact cost shows before you generate. A failed render is never charged.

What Wan 3.0 is good at
Four things that decide what kind of clip it suits — each one a capability Alibaba itself describes.
Up to 30 seconds in one take
A single generation runs up to 30 seconds, twice Wan 2.7’s 15. Alibaba says it handles one-take shots and continuous camera moves, so one clip can play out a whole small scene, not just a single action.
Sound in the same render
Lines written in quotes are spoken, and footsteps, ambience and music are generated to match the picture. Switch sound off when you plan to add your own track — the price is the same either way.
References you call by name
Up to nine reference images, one reference video and one audio track, each named in the prompt as @Image1, @Video1 or @Audio1. Alibaba says characters keep their details in reference mode.
Shots timed to the second
Alibaba’s own prompt format numbers each shot and gives it a time range — Shot 1 [0-3s] — with 2 to 5 seconds per shot. Write “No dialogue.” when nobody should speak, or the model may add a line of its own.

How to use Wan 3.0 on HelloGen
Pick Wan 3.0
Open the video generator in the Studio and choose Wan 3.0 — or Wan 3.0 Prime when you need the clip back sooner. Then pick text or image to video, first and last frame, or reference mode.
Write the prompt, or upload
Start with the whole scene, then the references (@Image1), the shots with their time ranges, dialogue in quotes and the sound. Or drop in a first frame, a first and last frame, or a few reference pictures.
Set length and resolution, then generate
Anything from 2 to 30 seconds, 480p to 1080p, with the price shown before you generate. A failed render is never charged, and the finished clip lands in My Works with its sound.
Wan 3.0 prompt guide: examples in Alibaba’s format
Copy one into the composer and swap the nouns. Prompts are kept in English so they can be pasted as-is.
Photoreal golden-hour surf footage, one continuous shot, no cuts. [0-3s] Tracking shot: the camera glides low and parallel across the open ocean at sunset. A wet golden tabby cat with focused green eyes and sleek, soaked fur crouches in a balanced low stance on a small white surfboard, riding smoothly down the turquoise face of a rising swell, lit from behind by the low sun. [3-7s] Push in: the wave arches overhead into a curling, translucent amber barrel; sea spray and fine mist catch the orange and magenta light while the cat lowers its center of gravity, tail adjusting for balance, holding a steady line along the wall of water. [7-10s] Pull out: the cat shoots cleanly out of the barrel mouth onto open water, droplets glistening in the rim light on its whiskers and fur, as the camera eases back to show the sunset horizon. Sound: deep ocean swell roar, rushing water inside the barrel, foam splashing, fine spray hissing, droplets hitting the board. No dialogue. No background music.
Animate this photo from the first frame: the camera pushes in slowly as the woman by the window turns toward the lens and smiles. The curtain moves in a light breeze and afternoon light slides across the wall. Birdsong outside. No dialogue.
One continuous shot from the first frame to the last: the camera holds still while the bare tree outside the window comes into full blossom, snow melting on the sill as the light warms. Wind and birdsong rise as spring arrives. No dialogue.
@Image1 is the barista and @Image2 is the café. Shot 1 [0-3s]: medium shot, she steams milk behind the counter. Shot 2 [3-6s]: close-up of the latte art forming in the cup. Shot 3 [6-9s]: she slides the cup toward the camera and says: "Your usual." Lip sync. Espresso machine hiss, soft café chatter.
Wan 3.0 vs the other video models on HelloGen
In short: pick Wan 3.0 when one clip has to run a full 30 seconds, reach 1080p and carry its own sound. On HelloGen it costs about half as many credits per second as Seedance 2.5, or less. Need it back sooner? Wan 3.0 Prime is the same model, rendered faster, at about 1.6 times the credits. Wan 2.7 is the 1080p choice for clips of up to 15 seconds. Seedance 2.5 is the one for a scene that has to stay consistent across several shots, or for 21:9 widescreen. And if you make a lot of clips, MiniMax H3 Unlimited on Pro and Max costs 0 credits per clip.
| Model | Resolution | Length | Sound option | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 480p · 720p · 1080p | 5s / 10s / 15s / 30s | ✓ | 70 credits | |
| 480p · 720p · 1080p | 5s / 10s / 15s / 30s | ✓ | 110 credits | |
| 720p · 1080p | 5s / 10s / 15s | ✓ | 140 credits | |
| 480p · 720p | 5s / 10s | ✓ | 140 credits | |
| 720p · 2K | 5s / 10s | ✓ | 80 credits |
The credits column is each model’s cheapest combination; the composer prices the exact resolution, length and sound you pick.
Wan 3.0 questions
What is Wan 3.0?
Wan 3.0 (also written Wan3.0 or Wan 3; Tongyi Wanxiang 3.0 in Chinese) is the newest model in Alibaba’s Wan AI video family. One model covers text-to-video, image-to-video from a first frame or from a first and last frame, and reference-guided generation, with clips of up to 30 seconds at up to 1080p and sound generated together with the picture.
When was Wan 3.0 released?
Alibaba opened a public beta on 6 August 2026, listed the faster Wan 3.0 Prime on 20 August and released Wan 3.0 officially on 24 August 2026.
Is Wan 3.0 open source? Can I run it on my own computer?
No. As of October 2026, Alibaba offers Wan 3.0 only through its cloud API and has not released the model weights; the most recent flagship Wan video model with open weights is Wan 2.2, from July 2025. On HelloGen there is nothing to install — open the video generator and Wan 3.0 is in the model list.
Can I use Wan 3.0 for free?
Video takes credits. Credit packs start at $4.90 for 500 credits that never expire — enough for seven 5-second Wan 3.0 clips at 480p — and Pro includes 3,600 credits a month, about 25 five-second clips at 720p. If what you want is volume, Pro and Max also include MiniMax H3 Unlimited: 0 credits per clip, with guaranteed priority clips every day (at least 2 a day on Pro, 5 on Max).
How many credits does a Wan 3.0 clip cost on HelloGen?
14 credits per second at 480p, 28 at 720p and 56 at 1080p: a 5-second 480p clip is 70 credits, a 10-second 720p clip is 280 and a 30-second 1080p clip is 1,680. Sound on or off costs the same. With a reference video attached, its seconds are billed at the same rate as the output seconds, which is how Alibaba itself prices it. The exact price shows before you generate, and a failed render is never charged.
What is the difference between Wan 3.0 and Wan 3.0 Prime?
They are the same model, with the same capabilities, resolutions, lengths and inputs. Prime renders faster; Alibaba’s own summary is “Prime buys time, not quality”. On HelloGen, Prime costs about 1.6 times the credits of Wan 3.0, so it is worth it when you are waiting on the result — for drafts and most finished clips, Wan 3.0 is enough.
What is the difference between Wan 3.0 and Wan 2.7?
Wan 2.7 is the previous generation, released in April 2026: 720p or 1080p, 2 to 15 seconds, sound always on, and up to 10 seconds in reference mode. Wan 3.0 runs to 30 seconds, adds a cheaper 480p tier, lets you switch sound off and takes more reference material. If you only need 1080p for up to 15 seconds, Wan 2.7 costs 42 credits per second against Wan 3.0’s 56.
Wan 3.0 or Seedance 2.5 — which should I pick?
Both generate sound together with the picture. Wan 3.0 reaches 1080p and costs about half as many credits per second on HelloGen, or less; Seedance 2.5 offers 21:9 widescreen and is strongest at keeping a scene consistent across several shots. A credit-saving way to work: draft on Wan 3.0, then switch to Seedance 2.5 when the shots need to hold together.
How do I write a good Wan 3.0 prompt?
Alibaba recommends this order: the overall scene, then references, shots, dialogue, sound and style, skipping whatever you do not need. Write shots as “Shot 1 [0-3s]: …”, 2 to 5 seconds each with no gaps between them. Write dialogue as she says: "…", naming the speaker every time, and write “No dialogue.” when nobody should speak. On-screen text is not reliable yet, so avoid asking for captions or signs.
How do I refer to my reference images in the prompt?
Type @ in the generator and pick an uploaded file: it appears in the prompt as @Image1, @Video1 or @Audio1 and is rewritten into Wan’s own form, “Image 1”, when it is sent. You can attach up to nine reference images, one reference video of 1 to 14 seconds and one audio track of 1 to 15 seconds; with a reference video attached, the clip itself can be up to 15 seconds.
Which resolutions, lengths and aspect ratios does Wan 3.0 support?
480p, 720p and 1080p; any length from 2 to 30 seconds per clip, with 5, 10, 15 and 30 as presets; 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:3 and 3:4, plus Auto — which follows the shape of your picture — once you upload one.
Can I use Wan 3.0 videos commercially?
Yes — clips you generate on HelloGen are yours to use, including commercially, to the extent the law allows. You are responsible for making sure your prompt and any image, video or audio you upload do not infringe someone else’s rights; the Acceptable Use Policy covers the details.
Why are some Wan 3.0 videos refused?
Alibaba screens for content that looks too close to well-known characters or brand designs. A refused video costs no credits: change the picture or reword the prompt, and generate again.
